+ They canceled my booking after a suspicious payment request I booked this hotel through Booking.com and provided my credit card details as required for the reservation. A few hours later, I received a WhatsApp message and a message through the Booking.com chat asking me to make the payment through a link they provided. I found this suspicious, as I am aware of similar fraud attempts targeting hotel guests. To make sure it was legitimate, I checked the hotel’s official website and noticed that the WhatsApp number that contacted me did not match any of the contact numbers listed there. I therefore contacted the hotel by email, sent screenshots of both messages (WhatsApp and Booking.com), explained my concerns about possible fraud, and asked them to confirm whether the payment request was legitimate. I received absolutely no response. A few days later, my booking was simply cancelled. Even if the messages and payment link were genuine, the hotel’s complete lack of communication is unacceptable. When a guest raises a legitimate security concern about a payment request, the bare minimum is to respond and clarify the situation, especially when the request itself appears suspicious. Instead, there was ZERO communication and my booking was cancelled without any explanation. Very disappointing and extremely unprofessional. I would not feel comfortable booking this hotel again.
