+ We booked a short break and visited in late July / early August, primarily to complete a parkrun at “Zielony Jar” on the outskirts of the city. However, we were amazed by the beauty of the city itself and really appreciated the great vibe of the city centre / main square are. The hotel has a fantastic location and our room face out on to the main square. We were only a matter of about 100 metres from St Mary’s Basilica with its famous hourly trumpet performances. The main square is also very noisy with the chatter of tourists. However, this was no problem since the glazing blocked the sound when peace was needed. We also attended the 5pm commemoration of the Warsaw uprising that took place on August 1st – a truly humbling moment. Also, ensure you visit the salt mine at Wieliczka – amazing place, and just a few stops on the railway. Hotel facilities were excellent. The room was very clean, with towels changed daily etc. We were greeted with a welcome message and bottle of bubbly on arrival. The complementary mini fridge was well stocked. The bathroom / jacuzzi were great. The staff on the desk were polite and extremely helpful (e.g. calling a very prompt taxi and knowledge of local vents / timings etc.) The all spoke very good English (as did almost every local we encountered). Breakfast was varied, with an excellent choice of items for every taste. There was even a bottle of bubbly available there, in case you wanted to “start early”! All in all, excellent value for money - as were the food and drink in local restaurants / bars. E.g. 2 x Lovely main meals (at Cyklop) + 4 x drinks was approx. £30. Overall, and epic little adventure and we hope to return again soon.
